Cet article analyse le concept de blackness sous l'angle d'énonciations d'une condition subalterne et des dynamiques s'y rattachant, chez certains rappeurs burkinabè. À partir de données ethnographiques recueillies dans le cadre d'une thèse d'anthropologie, cette contribution met l'accent sur l'articulation entre blackness, énonciations d'une africanité authentique, et enjeux liés à la globalisation, en regard d'expériences et/ou de trajectoires socio-artistiques différentes au sein du monde du rap burkinabè. L'arrivée du hip-hop à Ouagadougou a constitué pour certains un moyen de s'approprier une histoire noire peu connue jusqu'alors. Cette connaissance de référents black transnationaux a ensuite été articulée à la valorisation d'une « authenticité » africaine, qui constitue désormais une véritable ressource mobilisable sur le marché de la musique à l'échelle transnationale. This article analyses the manner in which “blackness” is enunciated by Burkinabè rappers as a condition of subalternity. Based on ethnographic data gathered for a PhD in social anthropology, it focuses on the articulation between blackness, statements of African “authenticity” and questions of globalisation through different experiences and socio-artistic biographies within the world of Burkinabè rap music and culture. The arrival of hip-hop in Ouagadougou offered, for some, a way of appropriating key elements of a hitherto little known black history. These elements of black transnational cultures were then articulated with the valorisation of African “authenticity”, which, in the process, has come to constitute a significant resource that can be mobilised on the transnational music market.
