La géographie politique se concentrait longtemps sur des acteurs étatiques et des questions territoriales, souvent en faisant référence au sujet des frontières des États nationaux (critiqué comme territorial trap dans la littérature internationale). L'importance croissante des acteurs non-étatiques, transfrontaliers et multi-scalaires,a certes été abordée dans les sciences politiques et sociales depuis les années 1990, mais elle a seulement récemment attiré l'attention des géographes. Cet article a pour objectif de démontrer la haute relevance spatiale de ces acteurs(concentré ici sur les organisations non-gouvernementales, ONG) et d'informer la communauté géographique française des perspectives développées en Allemagne.Dans ce contexte, nous proposons des bases d'une géographie politique de lasociété civile et documentons des processus de la transformation spatiale qui concerne également autres sous-disciplines comme la géographie économique,urbaine et de développement. La première partie de l'article traite des définitions et des concepts généraux développés dans les sciences politiques et sociales.Dans la deuxième partie, par contre, des perspectives relatives à l'espace sont catégorisés et exemplifiés. Transnational Non-Governmental Organisations — A German Perspective Political Geography has for a long time been focused on state/governmental actors and territorial questions, often with regard to border-related problems within national contexts (criticized as territorial trap in the international literature).While the growing importance of border-crossing and scale-transcending non-governmental actors has been dealt with in the political and social sciences since the 1990s, it has only recently been given attention by geographers. This paperaims to give evidence of the high spatial relevance of these actors focusing on transnational NGOs, and to inform the French geographic community about the perspectives being developed in Germany. Contours of a Political Geography of civil society as well as processes of spatial change relevant to other sub-disciplines,such as Urban, Economic and Development Geography, are there by out lined. In the first part of the paper general definitions and concepts from the political and social sciences are summarized.
