L'imaginaire de la mort en littérature
Résumé anglais Death in Fernando Vallejo's work has been studied mainly as a thematic focus closely related to the social Latin-American phenomenon of extreme violence. However “death” as a term becomes problematic in Vallejo's novels : it points to different meanings and adopts various forms in the text. This is exactly what we observe when we read La Rambla paralela, El don de la vida, and Casablanca la bella, three autofictional novels in which death's versatile presence acts as a structural element. The different ways in which death appears or manifests itself in these novels helps us understand how the ambiguous relationship between the author/narrator/character and loss is structured. The aim of this article is to analyze the configuration of this relationship as a system that articulates the different contradictory representations of death in the aforementioned novels.
