Résumé anglais |
Largely inspired from her own life, Lorrie Moore's short story focuses on a child's cancer that is almost clinically described as a deeply disruptive force. But the text is also a reflection on the way cancer and the family's struggle can be expressed. It seems to celebrate the emergence of what Laurent Jenny calls “singular speech.” Because of its flaws and of the deviating strategies it is forced to adopt, language is presented as a force of diffraction that allows the narrative voice a form of mastery.
