La Une de l'édition de Charlie Hebdo, parue une semaine après l'attentat qui a frappé sa rédaction en janvier 2015, pose une épineuse question : est-il possible de séparer la caricature du blasphème ? Complétant, sur les plans sémantique et sociologique, les analyses pragmatiques du blasphème proposées par Jeanne Favret-Saada, cet article aborde la tension entre le proche et le politique qui caractérise la caricature. La caricature peut en effet s'inscrire dans deux registres différents, celui, affectif, du proche et celui, critique, de la dégradation. Dans le cas de la figuration des personnages publics, la dégradation joue une fonction politique, liée à la critique du pouvoir. L'analyse de la conférence de presse durant laquelle Luz présente Mahomet en couverture est l'occasion de revenir sur cette tension entre critique et attachement, et permet d'aborder l'emprise problématique que peut exercer la dénonciation du « blasphème » sur la structuration pluraliste d'un espace public. The front page that Charlie Hebdo published a week after the attack that hit its editorial staff in January 2015 raises a thorny question: is it possible to separate caricature from blasphemy? This article draws upon Jeanne Favret-Saada's pragmatic analyses of blasphemy and supplements them with semantic and sociological insights in order to address the tension between the familiar and the politics that characterizes caricature. The cartoon can indeed belong to two different registers, that of the personalized attachment and that of the detachment and degradation. In the case of public figures, degradation plays a political function, related to the critique of power. The analysis of the press conference in which Luz presents the front page with Muhammad is an opportunity to reflect on this tension between criticism and attachment, and to address the problematic influence that the denunciation of “blasphemy” can exert upon the pluralistic structure of the public sphere.
