Avant les révoltes arabes de 2011, la Turquie apparaissait comme une puissance régionale ambitieuse, accumulant les succès diplomatiques. La déstabilisation du Moyen-Orient a remis en cause cette dynamique positive. Le positionnement d'Ankara dans le conflit syrien est loin d'être clair. Ses ambiguïtés à l'égard des djihadistes ont suscité méfiance et tensions. Les relations d'Ankara avec Moscou, Téhéran et Le Caire sont au plus bas, tandis qu'un rapprochement avec Riyad est amorcé.

Before the 2011 Arab revolts, Turkey was emerging as an ambitious regional power, with a series of diplomatic feats. Destabilization of the Middle East has stalled the trend. Ankara's position with regard to the Syrian crisis is ambiguous and its ambivalence surrounding the jihadist movement has incited tension and distrust.
