| Résumé |
Ce dossier est animé par l'idée que la crise actuelle de l'éducation va bien au-delà des
batailles anciennes entre laïcité et religion, sciences et humanités, école du peuple et
école des élites. Depuis les années 1960, la crise s'est étendue à l'ensemble des instances
socialisatrices. La famille est en pleine bousculade et redéfinition. Les Églises, autre pilier
socialisateur, ont vu, en Europe occidentale, s'effondrer leur influence en quelques décennies. Les entreprises, emportées dans la globalisation et la concurrence, sont entrées dans
une phase de fragilité qui retentit sur leurs fonctions intégratives. L'école elle-même, surtout le secondaire et l'université, paraît minée par les contradictions et les déficits de
motivations. Les médias audiovisuels et informatiques ont certes gagné en puissance, mais
celle-ci s'exerce dans une multitude de directions dont il est difficile de saisir la résultante.
Choisir la diagonale de la normativité et traverser une bonne part du paysage éducatif, en
renonçant à une focalisation exclusive sur l'école, est le pari, excessif, de ce numéro. Il
faut parfois prendre le parti de trop embrasser pour pointer quelque chose de difficile à
cerner qui, ici, est de l'ordre de la superposition des crises. L'itinéraire choisi commence
par la famille, passe ensuite par la religion, débouche sur l'école et se termine par des

Introduction
The guiding line of this current issue is that the present day crisis affecting education goes well beyond those old and well-known conflicts between secular and religious education, the arts and sciences, comprehensive education for all or schools for the elite. Since the 1960's, this crisis has spread to all those institutions responsible for socialization. Family life is being redefined and undergoing a huge upheaval; another former pillar of socialization, the Church, has seen its influence collapse throughout Western Europe over the past few decades. Companies, swept up in the process of globalization in an ever-increasing competitive world, have been sorely tested and this has had an impact on their integration role. Schools themselves, especially secondary schools and universities, seem to be undermined by the contradictory nature of their students' motivations or the lack of them. The importance of TV, radio and IT multi-media has increased substantially, but such influences act in a multitude of different directions, and it's difficult to know as yet their result and impact. This issue has set itself the perhaps excessively ambitious task of trying to examine the place and nature of normativity today through an overall survey of a large proportion of the educational system without focusing exclusively on schools. Sometimes the risk has to be taken to adopt a very wide scope to pinpoint something difficult to identify, which, in this case, is to do these overlapping crises. Our approach has been to begin with the family, then consider religion, which will lead us to schools, and finally to conclude with general considerations on normativity and socialization.
