Les mortuaires juifs des XVIIe et XVIIIe siècles éclairent deux aspects caractéristiques du judaïsme : si leur lecture atteste de l'intemporalité du rituel funéraire, les commentaires et interprétations qui accompagnent la formulation de ces rituels manifestent les influences de l'esprit du temps. On remarquera que la dimension communautaire de la prise en charge des derniers devoirs présente une analogie avec la vision cosmogonique de l'entité d'Israël, intégrant le concept de l'individu dans celui de peuple. The Jewish way of reading death-bed literature in Ashkenaze communities (17th-18th centuries) The Jewish death-bed literature of the XVIIth and XVIIIth centuries sheds light on two typical aspects of Judaism. By reading it, one shall disclose, at the same time, the evertasting character of the funerary ritual and, through the glosses and interpretations made about this ritual, the influences exerted on Jewish representations by the universal way of thought. We will then notice that the communitarian dimension of the carrying out of the last duties can be analogized with the cosmogonic vision of the entity of Israel which integrates the concept of the individual within the one of People. This analogy points out the contribution of the mystical conceptions shared during this period amongst the Ashkenasic communities. Source : Éditeur (via Persée) |
