Competition in the telecommunications industry: an analysis of Senegal's case Innovation is the major element in an industry subject to competition. Traditionally, competition through innovation is analyzed through deterministic and stochastic models. This paper proposes to determine the influence of investment capacity upon the choice of positioning of firms in the telecommunications industry. Based on the case of Senegal telecom, we attempt to understand the motivations of the incumbent firm (called first mover) to implement innovations to maintain a leader position than the followers.
