Demonstratives as textual and linguistic entities. The introductory paper draws the main lines of this special issue. In the first part, M. Léonard explains how and why some linguistics and literature specialists decided to focus their attentions on demonstratives, in a common work that gives no priority to the linguistic system over textual realisations.
