Le texte propose certains principes pour ouvrir à l'enquête sociologique les pratiques symboliques des collectifs humains. Il s'appuie sur la thèse du philosophe anglais John L. Austin concernant le caractère conventionnel de nos actes symboliques. Ensuite, il donne l'exemple de la sociologie américaine du langage qui, par l'enquête, a fondé cette thèse. En outre, l'hypothèse du conventionnalisme conduit à considérer l'activité de langage à partir de la notion d'institution de discours et des concepts qui lui sont attachés : registre, espace symbolique, énonciation. The text proposes some principles to open up the symbolic practices of human collectives to sociological investigation. It is based on the English philosopher John Austin's thesis concerning the conventional character of our symbolic acts. Then, it gives the example of the American sociology of the language which founded this thesis by the investigation. Furthermore, the assumption of the conventionalism leads us to consider the activity of language starting from the notion of institution of speech and the concepts attached to it : register, symbolic space, enunciation.
