Les déictiques sont a priori un bon terrain d'enquête pour analyser comment la multimodalité contribue à l'identification du référent en discours. En particulier, les énoncés sont toujours adressés à quelqu'un et le mécanisme de cet adressage fait intervenir conjointement des marqueurs linguistiques et des indicateurs non linguistiques, le principal étant le regard. Dans le corpus d'interactions médiatiques que nous étudions (les débats d'entre-deux-tours des élections présidentielles françaises), où le regard peut cibler les interactants présents mais aussi le public (regard caméra), on examinera le fonctionnement de ce système complexe dans deux types de séquences bien différentes à cet égard : l'ouverture des débats, où les animateurs s'adressent principalement aux téléspectateurs, et les moments où un débatteur « délocute » (i.e. désigne à la troisième personne) son co-débatteur. Deictics seem a priori a good field for studying how multimodality contributes to the identification of the discourse referent. In particular, all utterances are addressed to someone and this addressing mechanism rests jointly on linguistic markers and non-linguistic indicators, the main one being the gaze. In the corpus of media interactions we study (i.e. the debates occurring between the two ballots of French presidential elections), where the gaze can target both the co-present interactants and the audience, this complex system will be examined in two clearly different types of sequences: first, the openings of the debate, when the moderators are mainly speaking to the TV viewers, and then the moments when one of the candidates mentions the other in his presence.
