Cet article revient sur la réalisation, il y a vingt ans, d'un documentaire consacré à plusieurs familles de néo-ruraux installées dans la Creuse. Allers-Retours à la terre est un film qui traite de la transmission, à travers les trajectoires sociales des enfants de ces néo-ruraux qui accédaient alors à l'âge adulte. Vingt ans après, l'évolution du regard sur le legs idéologique des utopies inspirées par Mai-68, ainsi que l'évolution de mon propre regard de chercheur, m'invitent à réexaminer ce film et l'enquête qui l'a nourri, guidé par les propositions stimulantes du concept de « revisite ethno graphique ». This article addresses the production of a documentary film twenty years ago that focused on several families in the Creuse department who had embraced counterurbanization. Back and Forth to the Land is a film about intergenerational transmission. It follows the social life of children born to people who had moved from the city to the countryside as they enter adulthood. Twenty years later, changes in the way we view the ideological legacy of the utopias inspired by May 1968, as well as the evolution of my own perspective as a researcher, encouraged me to re-examine this film and the investigation behind it, driven by the stimulating possibilities found in the concept of an “ethnographic revisit”.
