| Résumé |
L'éclatement de l'enveloppe urbaine de la plus grande agglomération tunisienne, le Grand Tunis, se traduit actuellement par un phénomène de migration des exploitations agricoles du centre vers la périphérie. Ces exploitations se rapprochent ainsi progressivement d'une situation de rupture avec les modes de production du territoire urbain. Sous l'effet de cette rupture, la cohérence interne de l'assise agricole se dégrade de plus en plus et son avenir, si un programme de planification urbaine alternative permettant son insertion dans un nouveau système de production territoriale ne se met pas en place, deviendra hasardeux. A travers l'étude du cas tunisois, le présent article expose une analyse sur l'état actuel de l'agriculture et des agriculteurs urbains en relation avec l'accroissement du phénomène périurbain en Tunisie et met l'accent sur l'intérêt que porte aujourd'hui la société locale sur le milieu rural/agricole qui l'entoure. Urban agriculture in Tunisia: residual space or a new territorial component ? The case of Greater Tunis. The spread of the urban area of the largest Tunisian agglomeration, that of Greater Tunis, is currently reflected in the migration of farms from the centre towards more peripheral locations. This development has served to quicken agricultures break with the different modes of production within the urban territory. Under the effects of this break, the internal coherence of the agricultural area has degenerated considerably, and if no alternative urban development plan is put forward allowing for a new system of regional production, the area's future will become increasingly uncertain. Based on the case study in Tunisia, the present article analyses the current state of both agriculture and urban farmers in relation to increasing peri-urbanisation, and underlines the importance that local society today attaches to the rural and agricultural environment surrounding it.
