Le quartier général des opérations combinées et l'expédition canado-britannique au Spitzberg (août 1941)En juin 1940, le Quartier général des opérations combinées est fondé afin d'évaluer les défenses allemandes le long du littoral occupé. Jusqu'à la Libération, ce service se distinguera par de nombreuses opérations importantes, coordonnant l'aviation, la marine et l'armée, et les enseignements permettront de perfectionner matériels et procédures en vue d'un débarquement allié. Parmi celles-ci, l'expédition au Spitzberg en août 1941 attire tout particulièrement l'attention en raison des enjeux diplomatiques entre la Grande-Bretagne et son nouvel allié soviétique. Le quartier général des opérations combinées et l'expédition canado-britannique au Spitzberg (août 1941)
In June 1940, the Combined Operations Headquarters was founded and devoted to the evaluation of the German's defences along the occupied coast. Up until the Liberation, this service distinguished itself by a great number of significant operations, which coordinated the services of the Air Force, the Navy and the Army. Ultimately these operations taught the allies lessons on how they could improve their military equipment and procedures in sight of an Allied landing. Amongst these operations, the Spitzbergen expedition in August 1941 stands out, compared to the others, as it had diplomatic stakes between Great-Britain and her new soviet ally.
