L'occupation de la Slovénie pendant la Seconde Guerre mondialeAprès l'attaque de la Yougoslavie en avril 1941, le territoire slovène a été occupé et partagé entre l'Allemagne nazie, l'Italie fasciste et la Hongrie. Tous les trois occupants se sont fixés pour objectif de détruire le petit peuple slovène en tant que sujet politique et ethnique, mais ont opté pour des méthodes différentes. Les Italiens ont procédé progressivement, c'est pourquoi ils ont conféré à la province de Ljubljana une autonomie culturelle limitée et ont continué de reconnaître l'existence du peuple slovène ; cependant, ils ont immédiatement annexé la Province au Royaume d'Italie. Les Hongrois ont agi de façon similaire avec la région du Prekmurje. De leur côté, les nazis ont entrepris dans le nord de la Slovénie une politique de germanisation radicale, tentant d'effacer toute trace visible du peuple slovène. L'occupation de la Slovénie pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale After the attack on Yugoslavia in April 1941, the territory of Slovenia was occupied and divided among Nazi Germany, fascist Italy and Hungary. The three occupying forces shared a common goal, which was to destroy the small Slovene people as both a political and ethnic entity. Their approaches were, however, different. The Italian occupation forces adopted a long-term approach and therefore allowed the Ljubljana region cultural autonomy, continuing for the time being to recognise the existence of the Slovene people. At the same time, the region was immediately annexed to the Kingdom of Italy in much the same way that Prekmurje was annexed to Hungary. The Nazis, who occupied northern Slovenia, at once initiated a radical policy of Germanisation and set out to destroy all visible traces of Slovenia's national identity. For administrative reasons, the Germans did not annex the occupied territory to the Third Reich, but they did implement the unlawful procedure of drafting men into the Wehrmacht.
