La Grande Guerre fut, pour l'Allemagne, un laboratoire d'essais pour de nouvelles armes et munitions. L'entre-deux-guerres et la Seconde Guerre mondiale furent un exemple parfait de l'interaction entre recherche et application, développement industriel et relations internationales. The First World War was, for Germany, a research laboratory for new weapons and munitions. The interwar period and the Second World War produced perfect examples of interaction between research and application, between industrial development and international relations.
