La forte présence d'immigrés algériens en France a
permis un rapprochement entre FLN et PCF, qui s'est approfondi depuis
la Guerre d'Algérie et après la destitution d'Ahmed Bella également,
en juin 1965. Après une période de forte opposition, un dégel
s'observa en 1972. Cependant, les visites des représentants
communistes à Alger étaient de plus en plus éclipsées par la montée du
Parti socialiste, mené par l'ancien ministre de l'Intérieur, François
Mitterrand. L'élection de Chadli Bendjedid en Algérie, en 1979, le
tournant connu par le PCF au tournant des années 1980, comme
l'élection de François Mitterrand à la tête de la France, mirent fin à

The presence of a strong community of Algerian
immigrants in France allowed a rapprochement between the FLN and the
PCF that had been stretched thin since the Algerian war and by the
destitution of Ahmed Ben Bella in June 1965. After a period of strong
opposition, the thaw occurred in 1972. However, the visits by PCF
representatives to Algiers were gradually overshadowed by the rise of
the PS led by former Minister of the Interior, François Mitterrand.
The election of Chadli Bendjedid in 1979 in Algeria, the identity
tight undertaken by the PCF at the beginning of the 1980s along with
the election of François Mitterrand as President, brought an end to
