Les réponses incitatives au problème de l'aléa moral impliquent souvent l'utilisation de bonus très élevés. Toutefois, ces récompenses peuvent ne pas être à la portée du principal. C'est le cas dans le secteur public où on ne peut pas faire correspondre les résultats à un bénéfice monétaire et où, par conséquent, les incitations ne peuvent être assurées par un schéma de partage du profit. Cet article montre comment la révélation d'information peut être utilisée par le principal afin de maximiser son profit dans ce cadre contraint. Dans un modèle principal-agent avec aléa moral, où les transferts du principal sont bornés, nous étudions un problème de design informationnel où le principal peut choisir de révéler à l'agent, ou non, la productivité de son effort. Information disclosure by a budget constrained principal Moral hazard may require the use of very high ex post bonuses. However, this is not feasible in circumstances where performance does not translate immediately in monetary benefit for the principal such as the public sector and incentives cannot be insured through sharing profits. This article shows how information revelation can be strategically used by the principal in such constrained situations to maximize her profits. In a principal-agent model with moral hazard and bounds on transfers, I study an information design problem where the principal can choose, or not, to reveal the productivity of the effort. I show that transparency is more likely to be optimal for the principal the less valuable the task is and the lower the budget is.Classification JEL : D23, D81, D82, D86.
