À l'ère du numérique, face aux progrès fulgurants des nouvelles technologies de la communication, des voix s'élèvent pour décrier les impasses de la communication numérique. Contre les « technoprophètes » fascinés par les progrès de la technique, qui proclameraient que la communication numérique nous aurait désormais affranchis des barrières temporelles et spatiales de la communication humaine, les « technophobes » catastrophistes sonnent l'alarme et dénoncent les apories de l'incommunication auxquelles aurait conduit la prévalence de la communication numérique, détériorant les relations humaines. S'il nous incombe aujourd'hui de construire une réflexion critique sur les enjeux de l'incommunication à l'ère du numérique, nous tenterons, dans une perspective se revendiquant de l'anthropologie psychanalytique, de faire la part entre l'actualité de ce « malaise dans la communication » et l'incommunication structurelle constitutive de toute communication humaine. In the digital era, in which we are confronted with the rapid advances in new communications technologies, some observers decry the impasses of digital communication. In contrast to the “technology evangelists,” who are fascinated by technical progress, claiming that digital communication is enabling us to overcome the spatial and temporal limits of human communication, the doomsday scenarios of “Neo-Luddites” warn against and condemn the aporias of incommunication; such aporias are supposedly being brought about by the prevalence of digital communication, which is degrading human relationships. Today, it is incumbent upon us to construct a critical reflection on the issues of incommunication in the digital era; we shall endeavor to do so within the context of a psychoanalytic anthropology, in order to differentiate between the “discontents” of today's communication and the structural incommunication that is constitutive of all human communication.
