Libérateurs indigènes du pays occupé, les anciens combattants belges exerçaient une autorité morale énorme pendant l'entre-deux-guerres. Dans cette contribution, nous reconstruisons comment les anciens-combattants ont fait appel à ce prestige pour imposer leur notion de justice. Cette volonté de rendre justice se manifestait plus violemment envers les inciviques durant la libération. Les années suivantes par contre, les (actions des) anciens combattants s'adressaient en premier lieu au gouvernement national pour exiger la sanction des profiteurs de la guerre, la justice sociale et le renvoi des résidents allemands. Indigenous liberators of the occupied territories, Belgian ex-combatants enjoyed enormous moral authority during the interwar period. In this article, we reconstruct how the ex-combatants used this prestige to impose their own notion of justice. At the moment of liberation, this readiness to dispense justice manifested itself most violently against the “inciviques” (collaborators). In the following years, the ex-combatants would direct their actions instead against the national government, calling increasingly for punishment of the war profiteers, for social justice and for the expulsion of German residents.
