Résumé. - L'ethnicité kalenjin se définit comme «minoritaire». Pourtant le président du Kenya, D. Arap Moi, appartient à la communauté kalenjin. Cette ethnicité s'est forgée en relation avec une revendication territoriale unitaire : une revendication exclusive à la fois foncière et administrative pour le domaine constitué par la province de la Rift Valley. Abstract. - The Kalenjin people of Kenya likes to remind us that they are a minority group. Still president D. Arap Moi, a Kalenjin, has been in power for the last 25 years. The invention of a Kalenjin tribe is related to a territorial claim (both for land and an administrative unit) on the Rift Valley province.
