Cet article examine l'évolution des approches ethnographiques dans l'étude des gangs. Il divise l'histoire de ce sous-champ en quatre époques distinctes : classique, interstitielle, contemporaine et la « révolution Rodgers ». La plus récente, la « révolution Rodgers », se concentre principalement sur l'Amérique latine et s'inspire des travaux de Dennis Rodgers ainsi que de ses étudiants. Ce travail fournit des détails considérables sur les influences culturelles, historiques et politiques qui ont produit des gangs dans cette région du monde. This chapter examines the evolution of ethnographic approaches to studying gangs. It divides the history of the study of gangs with ethnographic methods into four distinct eras: Classic, Interstitial, Contemporary, and the “Rodgers Revolution”. The most recent era, the “Rodgers Revolution” focuses primarily on Latin America, and is inspired by the work of Dennis Rodgers and his students. This work provides considerable details regarding the cultural, historical and political influences that produced gangs in the region.
