| Résumé anglais | The cartoonist, from artist to journalist, Christian Delporte. From the Belle Epoque to the 1930s, the author draws the portrait of three successive generations of cartoonists. Between the first generation (Steinlein, Gill) and the two interwar generations — those of the 1920s (Gassier, Sennep) and those of the 1930s (Effel, Henry), the cartoonists became artist-newspapermen. They became a recognized part of the world of journalism, with recognition, professionnal status and a separate union (1935). | |
