Résumé anglais Echoes from Poland after Tolstoj's Death The concern for Tolstoj increased in Poland (a part of which belonged at that period to the Russian Empire) after the publication of Resurrection and with the celebration of the eightieth anniversary of the writer in 1908, which was greeted by articles written by Sienkiewicz, Bolesław Prus and Elisa Orzeszko. The author then analyses the echoes provoked by Tolstoj's death in 1910. He turns his attention to the speeches of the essayist Adam Szymański and of Professor Marian Zdziechowski, at the occasion of the commemoration organized by the Cracow Slavic club. He also studies the articles written by Tadeusz Rechniewski, Henryk S. Kamiński and Kazimierz Czapiński, which offer an overall picture of the subject. The article ends with the analysis of the writer's portraits painted by the three following Polish men of letters: Adam Grzymała-Siedlecki, Josef Weissenhof and the poet Boles aw Leśmian.
