Résumé anglais Echoes of Lev Tolstoj's Death in the Light of the Reception of the Writer's Work in Italian Culture at the End of the XIXth – Beginning of the XXth Centuries This article presents a general review of the reactions of the Italian press after Lev Tolstoj's death. Here are reported the main opinions of Italian writers, thinkers and journalists, which offer a really broad view of the large fortune of the writer and of his work in Italy at the beginning of the XXth century. A particular attention is devoted to literary reviews such as Il Marzocco and Nuova Antologia. The rich debate concerning the literary, political and religious reception of Tolstoj's heritage is at the basis of a really genuine interpretation of his thought and works, as largely demonstrates the strong influence of his heritage on Italian culture. Quite significant are the opinions of Italian religious thinkers on Tolstoj's doctrine, especially in the field of Catholic Modernism. Tolstoj's image is also at the center of literary creation as in the case of Giovanni Pascoli's poem Tolstoj.
