La structuration de l'appareil de recherche en communication au Québec s'est faite en deux phases : l'émergence de 1957 à 1967 et l'institutionnalisation de 1968 à aujourd'hui. Le début des années 80 montre que la structuration institutionnelle du champ est de plus en plus centralisée autour du rapport État-industrie. Cependant, certaines initiatives critiques permettent de croire que l'approche alternative ne sera pas absente de l'interrogation sur les communications durant les années 1985-1990. Communications research in Quebec emerged as an integrated , structured apparatus in two phases : its beginnings from 1957 to 1967, and its institutionalization since 1968. The 1980's indicate that the continuing institutionalization of this field of research will be more and more structured around the core State-Industry axis.
