Cette réflexion s'intéresse à l'engagement associatif des réfugiés centrafricains dans l'aire frontalière orientale du Cameroun, plus précisément dans la localité de Garoua-Boulaï. Quel est le contexte d'émergence de cet engagement associatif ? Que peut-on dire de son origine, de ses formes et de son évolution ? Comment s'articule-t-il à l'espace ? En vue de répondre à ces interrogations, l'article part de l'hypothèse selon laquelle la mobilisation associative des réfugiés centrafricains à Garoua-Boulaï se déploie dans un cadre défini et contrôlé par les acteurs humanitaires, favorisant l'émergence d'un champ associatif-humanitaire. La dimension spatiale s'y exprime dans la constitution d'un espace social local marqué par l'humanitaire et la centralité urbaine qui semble caractériser cet engagement associatif. This paper focuses on the collective engagement of CAR refugees in the eastern border area of Cameroon, specifically in the local council of Garoua-Boulaï. What is the context of emergence of this collective commitment? What can we say about its origin, its forms and its evolution? How does it relate to the space? The paper assumes that the collective engagement of CAR refugees in the East of Cameroon takes place in an environment defined and controlled by humanitarian actors, promoting the emergence of an associative-humanitarian field. The spatial dimension of this engagement appears in the constitution of a local social space marked by humanitarian action and in the urban centrality that seems to characterize this collective engagement.
