Territoires et déplacements : La migration centraméricaine
Résumé anglais Due to the exponential increase in violence against migrants, thousands of Central Americans marched illegally through Mexico, as a caravan between October and November 2018; their presence was a warning about the insecurity and the non-respect for their rights. The caravan also posed the dilemma of how to report on this event. The journalist Alberto Pradilla published a series of chronicles on the Guatemalan website Plaza Pública, that served as the basis for writing Caravana (2019). This article discusses the role of the journalist and how to represent migration. The testimony is studied as a source of information as well as the migratory posture of Mexico, which is the main space of the march. In his chronicle, Pradilla reveals a series of paradoxes that allow him to develop a critical discourse, which is essential to approach this subject.
