Résumé anglais Abstract. — As a typical example of an Alpine region, still very badly « disenclaved », the Sondrio Province cannot expect a better touristic take off without a better system of road communications. From both quantitative and qualitative points of view, the actual road system is insufficient. Besides, all the roads connecting that region the large cities of the Po Valley and Switzerland are bad. The road to Milano is now getting better but it does not solve the problem of the Stelvio and Splugen tunnels, the realization of which would drew the Province out of its isolation.
