Résumé anglais Abstract. — Commercial and artisanal town since the Middle Ages, Crest had become by the 18th century a flourishing textile center wich supported the important surrounding rural areas. Today it is no more than a small industrial center comprising both traditional and modern activities, but to an insufficient extent. Crest is taking on more and more the role of a service town, with a rather limited zone of attraction
