— an alpine the winter residence was joined with traditional summer grazing. The present travellings imply four phases. This apparently aberrant winter residence is a solution to the transformation of the mountain hamlet into a skiing resort. The development of this twofold seasonal activity corresponds to a specialisation in cattle rearing and to the establishment of a kind of semi-nomadic way of life. It has also caused a transfer of farming activity towards the alp, representig the following inconveniences: the farmers' isolation, divided spheres of work, and conflicting interests with holyday-maker as to the use of the alpine prairies.
