Résumé anglais Abstract. — Following a few historical views about the empirical then statuory appreciation of natural risks, the author introduces the maps for the here area (France). They show up the risks of floods (rivers and torrents), land slides, stone falls and thus determine safe or impossible building areas. After the City Council advice, the map is exposed to public inquiry and then approved by the prefect. The third party can oppose it. In 1982, a law of solidarity about the indemnification for the victims of natural disasters forces the state to establish "Plans d'Exposition aux risques naturels prévisibles — PER " (exposition plans of prévisible natural risks). They take account thepre-named risks plus earthquakes. After the prefect approval, the "PER" becomes a public utility obligation. The RTM(1) Service which is in charge of these creations of areas in here also realises works of protection against those risks : active, temporary or passive défense works, which are partially paid by collectivities (state, country, district).
