This article is an epistemological essay on urban sociology. It tries to explain why research results in this field are always highly ideological, controversal and partial. Such a situation is due to the diversity of social representations of researchers themselves (modernists versus traditionalists), but also to the fact that theory and practices, i.e. the applicability of research results, are highly intermingled. The author shows further that methodological choices as well as the type of issues studied are intimately linked with specific ideologic ? ! preferences. Source : Éditeur (via Persée) |
