L'historicisation des catégories du monde savant que revendique Wolf Feuerhahn (2020) peut être étendue au-delà des seules discursivités. La réflexion sur les méta-concepts – ces concepts organisateurs des pratiques scientifiques – permet d'interroger l'évolution des configurations épistémiques dans le temps. La raison et l'objectivité sont deux exemples de ces points d'appuis rarement explicitement requis dans la démarche savante ; pour autant, les généalogies de leur formation renseignent sur les écarts de sens progressivement construits. De même, la matérialité somatique informe l'histoire des distances prises entre des catégories d'analyse absentes d'une époque (par exemple la domination masculine) et ses manifestations pourtant évidentes (c'est-à-dire l'invisibilisation des femmes par la valorisation du corps héroïque). La reconstitution des expériences donne à voir au XIXe siècle, les transformations du geste artisanal vers la standardisation industrielle. L'article plaide pour une pragmatique des écarts, un incessant aller-retour entre le présent et le passé, qui donne à l'historicité la pleine mesure de ses potentialités analytiques. Wolf Feuerhahn's historicisation of the categories of the scholarly world can be extended beyond discursivity alone. Reflection on meta-concepts – the organizing concepts of scientific practice – allows us to question the evolution of epistemic configurations over time. Reason and objectivity are two examples of these points of support that are rarely explicitly required in the scientific process; for all that, the genealogies of their formation provide information on the progressively constructed gaps in meaning. Similarly, somatic materiality informs history of the distances taken between categories of analysis absent from an era (e.g. male domination) and its yet obvious manifestations (i.e. the invisibilisation of women through the valorisation of the heroic body). The reconstruction of experiences shows the transformations in the 19th century from the gesture of craftsmanship to industrial standardisation. The article argues for a pragmatism of gaps, an incessant back and forth between the present and the past, which gives historicity the full measure of its analytical potential.
