Cet article présente la première histoire approfondie des Latinos dans les émissions de télévisions à grand public. Il archive les représentations volontairement erronées des Latinos de Speedy Gonzales jusqu'aux séries actuelles comme Modern Family. En même temps, il fournit également une feuille de route à travers une histoire de la représentation médiatisée des Latinos qui rompt les stéréotypes en fondant des reconstructions volontaires et nuancées des subjectivités et des expériences des Latinos. Nous prenons comme exemple ici les émission télé d'antan telles que CHiPs and Chico and the Man ainsi que les émissions d'aujourd'hui comme Cristela, Orange Is the New Black. This paper provides the first thoroughgoing history of Latinxs in mainstream TV shows. It archives the willful misrepresentations in mainstream media of Latinxs from Speedy Gonzalez and to today's TV shows like Modern Family. At the same time, it also provides a roadmap through a history of mediatized representation of Latinxs that rupture stereotypes and provide willful and nuanced reconstructions of Latinx subjectivities and experiences.
