La fin de la décennie 2000 est marquée par l'adhésion d'institutions, auparavant émettrices de discours climatosceptiques, à la nécessité du développement de la recherche en ingénierie climatique. Cet article propose une étude de cas sur un discours émis en 2010 par un think tank conservateur nord-américain (l'American Enterprise Institute). Ce discours énonce une stratégie explicite de dépolitisation et s'appuie sur une intertextualité importante avec les discours scientifiques promouvant la recherche en ingénierie climatique, afin de travailler à l'acceptabilité sociale de la géo-ingénierie. Dans le même mouvement, l'institution s'efforce de justifier son changement d'attitude à l'égard du réchauffement climatique, en préservant l'intégrité de son ethos collectif. At the end of the 2000s, some institutions that used to produce sceptical discourse about climate change, began to endorse research into climate engineering. This article investigates this argumentative transition through an analysis of the discourse of a US think tank (the American Enterprise Institute), in 2010. This discourse is based on an explicit depoliticisation strategy regarding climate change issues and technologies. It also displays a high degree of intertextuality with scientific discourses promoting climate intervention, with a view to building social acceptability for geoengineering, and at the same time provides a justification for a major change of attitude towards climate change, while preserving the integrity of its collective ethos.
