Fasciné par la belle totalité de la Grèce, le jeune Hegel rêve d'abord de réinventer son inspiration au présent d'une liberté raisonnable. Mais cet idéal ne pouvait éviter de se confronter au poids d'une tradition où religion et politique semblaient s'être alliées pour imposer une domination aliénante. Le devenir-philosophe allait ainsi passer par une crise existentielle au terme de laquelle la rigueur de la réflexion devait être amenée à réévaluer les apports historiques de la négativité chrétienne et à se donner les moyens spéculatifs d'une réconciliation effectivement spirituelle avec le destin de l'époque. Fascinated by the beautiful totality of Greece, the young Hegel first dreams of reinventing his inspiration in the presence of a reasonable freedom. But this ideal could not avoid confrontation with the weight of a tradition or religion where religion and politics seemed to have joined forces to impose an alienating domination. The emerging philosopher would thus go through an existential crisis at the end of which the rigor of reflection would be led to reassess the historic contributions of Christian negativity and to provide itself with the speculative means of an effectively spiritual reconciliation with the destiny of the time.
