Cet article analyse sur un plan sociologique la réception de la pensée islamique réformiste dans l'espace euro-américain à partir des années 1990. Une attention particulière est portée aux propriétés sociales des réformateurs et aux attributs qui définissent leurs vocations intellectuelles. L'objectif étant de construire un « espace des possibles biographiques » qui se déploie dans un espace géographique transnational ; et d'illustrer la manière dont cette réception euro-américaine favorise la circulation des individus et des références. Dans ce cadre, le concept de marché permet d'illustrer la dynamique sociale avec laquelle les réformateurs musulmans répondent à différentes demandes spécifiques. Pour caractériser cet espace intellectuel transnational, un bref retour historique est esquissé afin de mieux comprendre les ramifications du réformisme musulman ainsi que les particularités de sa forme contemporaine. Par la suite, une étude prosopographique des principaux producteurs intellectuels de cet espace permet d'analyser les modalités à travers lesquelles leur islamité est mobilisée, et ce dans différents champs d'intervention. This article analyzes on a sociological level the reception of Islamic reformist thought in the Euro-American space from the 1990s. Particular attention is paid to the social properties of reformers and the attributes that define their intellectual vocations. The objective is to construct a “space of biographical possibilities” that unfolds in a transnational geographical space; and to illustrate the way in which this Euro-American reception favors the circulation of individuals and references. Within this framework, the concept of market allows us to illustrate the social dynamics with which Muslim reformers respond to different specific demands. In order to characterize this transnational intellectual space, a brief historical review is sketched in order to better understand the ramifications of Muslim reformism as well as the particularities of its contemporary form. Then, a prosopographical study of the main intellectual producers of this space allows us to analyze the modalities through which their Islamity is mobilized, and this in different fields of intervention.
