Souvent appréhendé dans ses cadres nationaux, le champ théâtral s'internationalise pourtant après la Seconde Guerre mondiale. En étudiant l'Institut international du théâtre – qui apparaît en 1948 dans le cadre de l'Unesco – à partir de ses archives, cette note de recherche rend compte des activités d'une institution œuvrant à l'internationalisation d'un champ de production culturelle (commande d'enquêtes internationales, création de revues et de festivals, soutien aux associations professionnelles internationales etc.) et interroge les conséquences de cette dynamique sur les champs théâtraux nationaux. Often understood within its national frameworks, the theatrical field nevertheless became internationalized after the Second World War. By studying the International Theatre Institute – which appeared in 1948 within the framework of UNESCO – from its archives, this research note gives an account of the activities of an institution working towards the internationalization of a field of cultural production (commissioning international surveys, creating reviews and festivals, supporting international professional associations, etc.) and questions the consequences of this dynamic on national theatrical fields.
