Cet article reconstitue une mobilisation féministe qui a eu lieu entre 1973 et 1974 en soutien à trois écrivaines portugaises, Maria Isabel Barreno, Maria Teresa Horta et Maria Velho da Costa poursuivies en 1973, au Portugal, pour avoir publié le livre Novas Cartas Portuguesas [ Nouvelles Lettres Portugaises] sous le régime fasciste de Marcello Caetano. Leur procès est considéré par les féministes comme un symbole manifeste de la répression subie par les femmes. Il a suscité un mouvement international, décrit à l'époque comme « La première grande cause du féminisme ». À l'initiative de femmes latino-américaines vivant en France, ces actions de groupes féministes de différents pays ont pris une grande ampleur. Revenir à cette mobilisation nous permet de démontrer la portée internationale des féminismes des années 1970 et de mettre en lumière les répertoires d'action et les formes d'articulation utilisées pour créer un réseau transnational de solidarité. Ce travail nous permet aussi de rendre visible la présence de femmes étrangères dans les groupes féministes en France – et plus largement, leur participation aux mobilisations des années 68. This article reconstructs the feminist campaign that took place between 1973 and 1974 in support of three Portuguese writers: Maria Isabel Barreno, Maria Teresa Horta and Maria Velho da Costa. They were put on trial in Portugal in 1973 for having published Novas Cartas Portuguesas [ New Portuguese Letters] during the fascist regime of Marcello Caetano. Feminists considered their trial a symbol of the repression directed against women. It provoked an international movement, described at the time as “the first major feminist cause”. On the initiative of Latin American women living in France, the coordinated campaigns by feminist groups in different countries took on a major dimension. Examining this extensive mobilization reveals the international scope of feminisms of the 1970s and highlights the repertoires of action and the connections established to create a transnational network of solidarity. This study also renders visible the presence of women from other countries in feminist groups in France and, more broadly, their participation in the mobilizations of the years following 1968.
