The Three Pillars of United States Government Information Dissemination Policy
The dynamic American marketplace for information goods and services is supported by three constitutional and statutory policies for federal government information activities. These policies are found in the First Amendment to the Constitution, the Freedom of Information Act, and the Copyright Act of 1976 that prohibits the federal government from copyrighting its information.
