Pendant la Grande Guerre, la propagande pro-alliée en Espagne exalta les volontaires espagnols de la Légion étrangère. De plus, les spéculations entretenaient un nombre exorbitant de volontaires, notamment catalans. Dans un cadre de propagande et de mobilisation culturelle, seule la construction d'un mythe comptait. Le présent travail propose une étude, basée sur des sources inédites des archives de la Légion étrangère à Aubagne, pour aider à démêler le mythe de la réalité et à comprendre combien il y avait de volontaires espagnols engagés dans la Grande Guerre, qui ils étaient et pourquoi ils se sont réellement battus. During the Great War, pro-allied propaganda in Spain exalted the Spanish volunteers in the French Foreign Legion. In addition, there was speculation with exorbitant numbers of volunteers, especially Catalans. Within a framework of propaganda and cultural mobilization, they were only interested in building a myth. This work proposes a study, based on unpublished sources from the archives of the Foreign Legion in Aubagne, to help unravel reality and myth and help us to understand how many and who were the Spanish volunteers in the Great War and what they really fought for.
