Between gynocriticism and the Freudian psychoanalytic interpretation of feminity the divide seems difficult to bridge. Yet some conceptual haze has obscured the issue. While gynocriticism has mapped a new literary landscape for women, psychoanalytic criticism is probing textual traces.
