Cet article retrace d'abord sommairement l'héritage colonial dont on compare les mécanismes dans le Cameroun anglophone et dans la partie francophone du pays. La réunification des deux Cameroun en 1961 a procédé d'une volonté de rétablir une égalité des conditions de part et d'autre de l'ancienne frontière et de renforcer les liens mutuels. Explicitant point par point les différents processus mis en oeuvre, l'auteur aboutit à la conclusion univoque que les déséquilibres hérités de la colonisation (économiques et administratifs) se sont accrus notablement et ont procédé d'une véritable marginalisation du Cameroun anglophone dans l'espace national. En dernière analyse, l'auteur indique alors l'évolution de l'urbanisation de cette région en précisant les conditions particulières de chaque ville. Source : Éditeur (via Persée) |

The English-speaking Part of Cameroon in the Process of National Integration.- This paper first of all traces briefly the colonial past of Cameroon and the manner in which it existed in the English-speaking and the French-speaking parts. The reunification of the two sectors of the country in 1961 was effected so as to restore an equality of conditions on both sides of the former border and to strengthen the mutual ties. Explaining point by point the different methods introduced, the author reaches the univocal conclusion that the imbalances inherited from colonization (economic and administrative) have considerably increased and reveal real disadvantages for the English-speaking part of Cameroon as regards its position in the national context. Finally, the autor comments upon the growth of urbanization in this region by specifying the particular conditions of each town. Source : Éditeur (via Persée) |
