L'opératiton « Vive la radio ! » a contribué à porter sur le devant de la scène médiatique, plus souvent occupée par les avatars du PAF, ce « vieux média » qu'est la radio. Dans un paysage dominé par les chaînes généralistes et les réseaux thématiques nationaux engagés dans la course à la rentabilité, France Musique constitue une entité distincte et originale, jusqu'alors - mais peut-être pas durablement - à l'abri de la concurrence, et qui mérite d'être soigneusement séparée du reste de la planète FM. La pérennité de cette chaîne, unique en son genre et cependant l'une des plus discrètes de Radio France, repose sur une articulation originale avec le service public de radiodiffusion, sur l'intrication de fonctions diversifiées et complémentaires, et sur un créneau jusqu'ici peu convoité où son savoir-faire la situe en position de force : la musique vivante. Operation "Vive la radio !" helped to bring to the fore on the media scene - more often than not occupied by the vicissitudes of the French audiovisual landscape - that "old medium" the radio. In a landscape dominated by general channels and thematic national networks all in the race for profitability, France Musique is a distinct and original entity, until now - but perhaps not permanently - sheltered from competition. It merits being carefully separated from the rest of the FM sphere. The perpetuity of this station, unique in its kind and yet one of Radio France's most discreet, is based on an original articulation with the public radio-broadcasting service, on the intricacy of diversified and complementary functions, and on a hitherto scarecely sought after market where its know-how gives it a position of strength - that of living music.
