Troc, bons d'achat et monnaie. La conception de Ferdinando Galiani
La séparation des deux fonctions de la marchandise, bien de consommation et moyen de paiement, est une condition nécessaire à la réalisation des échanges. Lorsqu'elle s'effectue sur une base purement privée, on obtient le « système des bons d'achat », dont l'étude constitue l'une des contributions les plus intéressantes de F. Galiani à la théorie de l'échange. En partant des indications fournies par cet auteur, on montre que ce système représente en fait la forme parfaite du troc et conduit à l'indétermination des prix. La solution de cette difficulté est la monnaie. Dans ce cadre d'analyse, c'est son principe d'émission qui est déterminant et non l'hypothèse habituellement faite sur les dotations initiales d'un bien particulier. Source : Éditeur (via Persée) |

Barter, tickets and money : Ferdinando Galiani's conception
The separation of the two functions of the commodity (final consumption and means of payment) is the necessary condition of decentralized trades. When this is made on a purely private arrangement, we obtain the « ticket system », the analysis of which constitutes one of F. Galiani's most interesting contributions to the theory of exchange. Starting from the indications supplied by this author, we show that this system is in fact the perfect form of barter and leads to the indetermination of prices. Money is the solution to this difficulty. In this analytical framework, the central point is the issue of the medium of exchange and not the usual hypothesis on the initial endowments of a particular good. Source : Éditeur (via Persée) |
