Comment comprendre la participation d'assureurs, de réassureurs ou de courtiers nationaux et internationaux, dans un secteur aussi complexe que la micro-assurance, alors même que la vulnérabilité des populations à faible revenu véhicule la litanie des préjugés : fatalité, irresponsabilité, violence, impossibilités à penser le risque ? Si l'article revient sur quelques fondamentaux de la micro-assurance vie et non-vie, les dérivés climatiques, produits complexes par excellence, permettent d'approfondir quelques grands enjeux de la micro-assurance. Des nouvelles interfaces entre État, industriels du risque, « société civile » et organisations internationales et locales, aux synergies à trouver entre marchés financiers et acteurs du développement économique et social, en passant par l'incontournable question agricole, tout se passe comme si se jouait la crédibilité d'une certaine « mondialisation ». Climatic derivatives : a climax for micro-insurance ? How can one understand the participation of national and international insurers, underwriters or brokers, in such a complex sector as micro-insurance, when the vulnerability of low-income populations carries with it a litany of prejudices : fatalism, irresponsibility, violence, impossibility of thinking of risk ? If the article revisits the fundamentals of micro-insurance concerning life- and other insurance, climatic derivatives, complex products par excellence, offer a deeper insight into some of the major stakes in play in micro-insurance. From new interfaces between State, manufacturers in hazardous sectors, “civil society” and international and local organizations, to synergies to be found between financial markets and actors of economic and social development, by way of the inevitable agriculture question, everything is taking place as if the credibility of a certain “globalization” was at stake.
