The contribution of the New Journalisms to the evolution of political campaign reporting in the United States. This article highlights the contribution of the New Journalism(s) to political campaign reporting. Self promoted by Tom Wolfe in the early eighties, this style of journalism combines intensive legwork and investigations to the mobilisation of literary skills and templates ; it will later borrow to social sciences too. Compared to the classics of Theodore White on the “Making of” the US presidents, differences are striking. New journalists are less deferential. They consider spin-doctors, consultants and the journalists'pack itself as part and parcel of a campaign's actors. They describe the growing gap between the professionals of politics and rank and file citizens. Part of this distance comes from a reflexive strategy for not “going native”.
      Millénium fictionalizes twenty-first century journalism
Shortly after its foundation, Millénium acquired the status of a “work of art” while Stieg Larson, a Swedish journalist specialised in far right politics acquired the status of a writer. Such a consecration questions the social making of journalism in the context of a huge literary success that enhances the journalistic meta-discourse. Based on a narrative analysis of the magazine's three volumes, this paper deals with the fictionalization of the kind of journalism practised in Millénium as well as with a mise en abyme of journalistic authorship torn between collective and individual identity. The fiction suggests a definition for journalistic investigation through a magazine, a journalist and a female hacker making three characters whose united efforts necessarily result in publishing investigation books of social, economic and political interest.
Georges Frêche and his Montpellier “biographers”. The challenge of portraying one figure
Following the exclusion of Georges Frêche from the Socialist Party in January 2007, three books, including two by journalists, were written about this controversial politician, whose career has had a lasting imprint on the city of Montpellier and the region of Languedoc-Roussillon. The present work aims to explore the risks taken by each author in terms of discourse and political and media strategies, and endeavours to analyse each book in terms of the writing modes employed, the importance given to, and the reliability of the respective sources and testimonies, the way in which the central figure is portrayed and the making of the professional political journalist.

Epistemology of the concept of public opinion in Korea and Japan
Just like in Western countries, “public opinion” in Japan and Korea has become synonym of the results of opinion polls. However, such a move has taken place much later in Asia and the very words opinion and public do not bear quite the same meaning. With the benefit of the hindsight, this paper sets out to portray the special course the concept of public opinion has undergone in both countries hence echoing the changes in Japanese and Korean societies.
Japan. From Self-Defense Forces to National Defense Army. Examination of a potential change of paradigmIn the aftermath of the coming back to power of the Liberal Democratic Party after the overwhelming victory of the conservatives at the time of the general elections of December 2012, the debate over the revision of the Constitution of Japan was reactivated by the Abe Cabinet. But in April 2012, anticipating the possibility of dissolution of the lower House, the LDP had previously published a draft of the revision of the Constitution, in which the pacifist clause of the Constitution was deeply rewritten. Even if the LDP showed no intention to give up the pacifist orientation of Japan's defense policy since 1945, it was clear that the party aimed at promoting a new redefinition of pacifism through the transformation of the Self-Defense Forces into a “National Defense Army”. Given the complexity of the legal and political requirements for constitutional changes, it seems difficult for the LDP to shape a national consensus on this matter, but this draft provides substantive and comprehensive insights about the new course of Japan's defense policy in its quest for departing step by step from the postwar taboos.
