De l'Allemagne, par Michel Jobert
Peuple séparé en deux, mais qui se reconnaît intact, ayant retrouvé depuis la guerre une place de premier plan, à l' Est comme à l'Ouest, l'Allemagne s'affirme, sous la tutelle même des deux blocs. Redevenue un partenaire majeur, la RFA retrouve son honorabilité. S'intégrant peu à peu dans l'Europe, a-t-elle vraiment renoncé à une réunification qui ne pourrait passer que par la neutralité ? La réconciliation avec l'Est et l'acceptation officielle de la division marque une progression vers la souveraineté. Mais la RFA mène de front plusieurs politiques dominées par le réalisme. Désormais, elle entend s'assumer pleinement, et si une Europe forte doit être un empêchement à la réunification, elle saura faire le choix qui lui conviendra. Source : Éditeur (via Persée) |

Considerations on Germany, by Michel Jobert
Divided but feeling themselves one, having recovered since the war a first rank position, both East and West Germany assert themselves, under the aegis of each bloc. Having become once again a major partner, West Germany reestablishes herself honorably. While increasingly integrating herself in Europe, has she really given up the idea of reunification, which she could only attain through neutrality? Reconciliation with the Eastern bloc and formal recognition of the division, can be considered as steps toward sovereignty. West Germany, however, carries on several policies at once based on realism. Henceforth, she is determined to assert herself fully, and if a strong Europe were to be a hindrance to reunification, she will make the proper choice according to her interest.
